Making and Unmaking

One of the most interesting potentials for CNC technology is the unmaking of things. You could imaging designing an artifact so it can be easily taken apart by a CNC machine and then broken down into raw materials. Those materials could be remade into the same artifact again creating a small loop. This sort of small loop could be a solution to the collection problem that has faced large scale recycling so far. Each collection network would be small enough that it could be handled in an ad hoc way. Also business would have an incentive to collect the artifacts because they become the material for the next round of goods. This is especially true if transportation costs spike because of peak oil.
